Here’s something to look forward to. Nice to see other countries leading the way in sustainability, cause our draconian laws are gonna make us all thirsty. Building and swimming in natural biological ponds is fun, gives us water security and improves local ecology. Why do we let go of our precious resources only to purchase them again from off-site sources, wasting money and energy in the process? If all wasted household water were, instead, stored and reused we could solve a lot of problems. Guess how much the average person uses daily? I don’t know but it’s a lot! Take into consideration air conditioner condensate (approx. 20-50 gallons / day for average sized home), shower and tub use (10-30 gallons), washing machine water (20-40 gallons per load) urine toilet flushing (greatest waste of water ever!) plus roof and stormwater (even greater!). Considering how much water we waste, if kept on site, our gardens could sustain us well, even through a drought.
Imagine… dipping into a pond that is entirely organic, hosting a school of edible fish, surrounded by oxygenating plants and recirculating through abundant edible vegetable gardens…living in paradise.
