Parks Commissioner George Dusenbury and
Outdoor Activity Center, Atlanta, GA.

Installed June 15, 2011.
Today the Outdoor Activity Center BioGarden and Incubator is officially up and running smoothly. The project was completed in three weeks and has been enhanced from the original plan by adding a 240 gallon fish tank and Zoo Garden plus a vermiculture and soldier fly larvae farm for feeding fish.
Crawfish and live fish food will be raised in the pond-like Incubator to support plants and fish in both modules. See our press release for details of the ribbon cutting and Open House on June 25th.
Because there is no existing rainwater catchment system in place we have added a barrel transfer tank to neutralize chlorine when topping off with municipal water. There will also be a display for a DIY Bioponica system, made from two barrels and a 10′ half pipe grow bed. These DIY models will be made available to interested visitors and includes pumps, plumbing and operating instructions. Rocks and barrels can be sourced locally. An indoor model will also be made available and may be seen indoors at the OAC Open House Event.

For more details about the OAC see Darryl Haddocks article posted on the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA)
